The children have really enjoyed writing about Peter Rabbit over the last few weeks. They have worked hard to write carefully for a reader, thinking carefully about what a sentence needs and applying their phonic knowledge to help them spell. Their sharing of writing with their friends in the class was lovely to see, as the children clearly saw themselves as both readers and writers. Well done, Year One!
Year One children continue to have a PE lesson both outside and inside each week. In these lessons we work on developing skills in key areas such as dance, gymnastics, and games. The children enjoy working on their own, in pairs, in small groups and as a class. They are becoming more aware of the importance of working together as a team and they really enjoy each PE lesson.
The children were especially excited to practice their gymnastic skills on the large apparatus this week. They have developed their skills of balancing and controlling their jumping to land safely in particular, and they were able to demonstrate this as they moved from each set of apparatus in the hall.
After each lesson, the children are able to evaluate what they did well and what will need a bit more practice to master. They have a lot of fun in these lessons each week!
Thank you for ensuring that your child is wearing the school PE kit every Thursday and Friday. The Elm school team t-shirts help children to know and feel part of their team and the plain hooded zip tops are easy to remove when the children feel warm. Thank you for ensuring that these are named.
