Year 6 Science – Inheritance and Evolution 🧬🐾

This week in Science, Year 6 learned about inheritance and variation.

We explored how offspring are usually similar to their parents, but not identical. This is because characteristics are passed from parents to their children through inheritance.

We also learned about variation, which means that even within the same species there can be differences in characteristics. This helps explain why individuals may look or behave slightly differently. Finally, we discussed evolution, which is the change in inherited traits over time 🌍.

The class enjoyed thinking about which traits might be inherited and sharing examples of similarities between family members! 👨‍👩‍👧
