This week has been full of emotion, challenge, curiosity and a lot of enthusiasm from the children.
📚 Boy in the Tower
We continued reading Boy in the Tower, discovering that even more towers are collapsing, Ade’s mum is becoming increasingly unwell, and Ade himself is feeling more isolated as schools close around him. And of course… where is Gaia?
The children showed real empathy and insight as they discussed these moments.
✍️ Balanced arguments
We wrapped up our balanced arguments on whether Ade is doing too much. The class worked brilliantly on developing stronger sentence structures and backing up their ideas with evidence from the text. Their reasoning was thoughtful and mature.
➗ Fractions work
Maths has been a real brain‑stretch this week. We tackled subtracting fractions — especially those tricky ones where we need to convert, regroup, and break into the whole. The children showed real resilience and pride in their progress.
🌍 Afternoon assessments
In the afternoons, we completed our assessments on:
- New Zealand
- The Industrial Revolution
- Space
I was genuinely blown away by the knowledge the children shared and the enthusiasm they brought to every discussion. Their recall, explanations, and curiosity were a joy to see.
💦 Water run fun
To finish the week, we ended with our water run, which was an absolute highlight. Everyone got thoroughly soaked — and loved every minute of it. A brilliant way to end a busy, hardworking week.
