This week as part of our topic work, we have continued our focus on wild animals and in- particular elephants and turtles.  We used descriptive words to describe the elephants and found out some interesting facts in our non-fiction animal books.

Our story of the week has been, ‘Elmer and the Tune, by David McKee’.  We have been decorating our own Elmer elephants using cotton buds and paint and practising humming different tunes like in the story.

To help develop our early writing skills we have been using tweezers to pick up pom-poms and feed a very hungry toy elephant, whilst talking about what elephants in the jungle really like to eat and how they use their trunks.

In our loose parts area, we have been looking closely at turtle shells and decorating turtle pictures to make different patterns.

Whilst exploring wild space we played, the floor is lava and practiced our balancing skills and quick moving.

Have a lovely half term break, and we look forward to seeing you when we are back, the week commencing 1st June 2026.
