✏️ English
In English this week, we have been working hard on creating rich and engaging descriptive passages. We focused closely on using fronted adverbials, descriptive language, and speech to bring our writing to life. Everyone has shown fantastic progress, and Mrs Broda‑Kaye has been amazed by how much our writing skills are improving. Our confidence as young authors is really beginning to shine through ✨.
➗ Maths
In Maths, our learning has centred around measurement, with a particular focus on weight ⚖️. We explored how kilograms can be converted into grams and investigated different real‑life examples to help us understand these units more clearly. Through practical activities and problem‑solving challenges, we strengthened our reasoning skills and became more confident in working with different measurements.
🌏 Geography
Our Geography lessons took us on a journey across the world to China 🇨🇳. We explored the country’s incredibly diverse landscape, from towering mountains to vast deserts and bustling modern cities. We also learned about the different climates found across China and then took a closer look at the fascinating Great Wall of China. Many people believe it can be seen from space, but we discovered that this is actually a myth — still, it remains one of the most impressive structures ever built 🧱.
🏰 History
In History, we travelled back to the dramatic events of the Battle of Bosworth ⚔️. We learned how this important battle brought an end to the long‑running conflict between the Plantagenet and York families. After the battle, Henry VII married Elizabeth of York, uniting the two houses and beginning the famous Tudor dynasty 👑. This moment marked a major turning point in English history.
🎨 Art
In Art, we continued our exciting work on Modern Architecture 🏙️. We explored how everyday objects can inspire creative building designs and discussed how architects use imagination to transform simple ideas into incredible structures. Our challenge this week was to design our own skyscraper based on a chosen object, and the results were wonderfully inventive, bold, and full of personality.
