🎨 Painting Like the Pre-Raphaelites 🎨
This week, Year 6 learned about the Pre-Raphaelites and how they wanted their paintings to look realistic and full of detail. We studied Dante Gabriel Rossetti and his painting The Annunciation, noticing how his work was different from traditional depictions of the same scene.
After learning about the Pre-Raphaelites, Year 6 put these ideas into practice. The task was to paint a flower using watercolour, just like artists who carefully observe nature. They sketched lightly in pencil, used the wet-in-wet technique, and worked carefully from light to dark.
The results were beautiful, with soft blends of colour and realistic details. Year 6 showed great patience, control, and creativity, and produced some fantastic artwork inspired by the Pre-Raphaelites. Well done, Year 6! 🌸✨
