What a fantastic and busy week we’ve had! Here’s what we’ve been up to:

💰 Maths
We explored money by finding different ways to make the same amount using a variety of coins. We then moved on to adding amounts of money and even challenged ourselves to convert 546p into £5 and 46p—great work everyone!

✍️ English
This week, we wrote about Alfred the Great. We discovered that he was the youngest of five brothers and wasn’t expected to become king! We also learned how he defeated the Viking leader Guthrum at the Battle of Edington and how he translated Latin into English.

🌱 Science
We began our new topic on plants by investigating different types. We even dissected flowers to find the seeds! We learned that scientists who study plants are called botanists.

🌍 Geography
Mrs Broda-Kaye set us the challenge of identifying countries in Western Europe. Using atlases, we carefully located and labelled each country—fantastic teamwork and map skills!

🏃‍♂️ PE
To finish the week, we joined Year 4 for athletics and focused on developing our sprinting skills. Lots of energy and great effort all around!

 A brilliant week of learning!
