In English this week the children have enjoyed reading our new class novel 'The Jungle Book' by Rudyard Kipling. They have been learning to add adjectives to nouns to give the reader more detail in their writing. The children continue to practise their handwriting daily, printing their letters with careful formation to develop an accurate, fluent style.
In their Maths lessons the children are focusing on developing their addition and subtraction skills. They have been adding and subtracting 1-digit numbers to and from 2-digit numbers, working practically to support mental methods going forwards.
In their Art lessons this week, the children were very excited to become sculptors! They looked at the work of some famous sculptors and sculptures. They were truly amazed by 'The Little Dancer' and 'The Angel of the North'! They they used their own skills to create a penguin out of clay. They were able to identify where penguins live, linked to their geographical learning about 'The Continents' this term. Each of their penguins was unique in its own right, and the children loved naming their new little friends! Next week they will be able to paint their penguin, once fully dried out. They are sure to look amazing!
