📚 English
In English, we have been preparing for our new narrative writing unit. We explored a series of exciting images, including a mysterious cavern 🏔️, a treacherous pathway 🪨, and a fierce dragon 🐉. The children worked brilliantly to create a descriptive word bank filled with ambitious vocabulary and imaginative similes. We were so impressed with the fantastic ideas and creative language produced!
⏰ Maths
This week in Maths, we have been working hard on telling the time. We explored the similarities and differences between digital and analogue clocks 🕒⌚ and practised reading both accurately. We then challenged ourselves by calculating the duration of time between different events. Everyone showed great perseverance and determination! ⭐
🌏 Geography
In Geography, we began learning about the continent of Asia. We discovered that Asia is the largest continent in the world and identified many of the countries that belong to it. We focused particularly on India 🇮🇳 and China 🇨🇳, locating them on a map and learning about their national flags.
💡 Science
Our new Science topic is Light! We discussed the difference between natural light sources 🌞 and man-made light sources 💡. The children enjoyed sharing examples and exploring how light helps us to see the world around us. We learned that light is the absence of darkness and began thinking about why light is so important in our everyday lives.
🌍 World Environment Day
On Friday, we took part in World Environment Day 🌱. We started with a fun fruit and vegetable quiz 🍎🥕 and learned more about healthy food choices. We then discussed ways we can help protect our environment by reusing materials. The children designed reusable pots from plastic containers to bring their healthy snacks to school. ♻️ By reusing plastic instead of throwing it away, we are helping to reduce waste and care for our planet!
